HISTORY OF KIZOMBA
La Kizomba, el genero musical y baile proceden de Angola. Surgió en los años 80 y la palabra significa «fiesta» en el idioma Kimbundu, uno de los mas hablados en Angola. Es un baile lento, sensual y pausado, se baila en pareja y se caracteriza por movimientos de caderas sensuales y la conexión entre el que dirige y el que sigue.
It is the result of fusing a Caribbean dance style called Zouk with traditional Angolan Semba music.
It is completely accessible for beginners. It has deep roots in France and Portugal, and although many consider it a Latin rhythm, it is actually an African dance. Step by step, it is being incorporated into dance halls, and its choreography is being enriched by contributions from other dances like Tango and Bachata.

Do I need prior experience to sign up for Kizomba?
No, we have beginner-level groups. You'll learn everything from the basic steps and rhythm to connecting with your partner.
Can I sign up alone, or do I need a partner?
You can come on your own without any problem! We rotate partners during class so everyone gets to practice with different people.
What clothing or footwear should I wear?
We recommend comfortable clothes and smooth-soled shoes that allow you to slide easily—try to avoid rubber-soled sneakers. No special outfit is required.
Which styles of Kizomba are taught?
We cover both traditional Kizomba and more modern styles, including Urban Kiz, always starting from a solid technical foundation.
